About
Moss Ying Loke O’Connor (he/him) is a Queer and Trans visual artist and woodworker originally from London, UK, now living and working in Brooklyn, NY. He recently completed the two-year residency at the Hercules Art Studio Program, where he was selected for his MFA thesis work. During this time, he completed a major self-produced project titled The Transexual Sweat Project (TSSP) in 2025, the culmination of his work at Hercules, which has since expanded into two further iterations.
He has continued to deepen his commitment to craft through the Furniture Intensive at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship (CFC) in Maine. He earned his MFA from Pratt Institute in 2023, receiving the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Award upon graduation, and completed his BFA at Parsons School of Design at The New School in 2020.
In recent years, his work has been included in group exhibitions at EUROPA, LiC-A, Ed Varie x Flush Gallery, ChaShaMa, The Living Gallery, Van Der Plas, BWAC, and AHA Fine Art, as well as in artist-led installations of The Transexual Sweat Project. His work has been featured online by Hyperallergic, E-flux Education, and Project Gallery, and appears in print in Girl Blood, The Hand Magazine, and Themselves Publication. He has also curated exhibitions with the Angelito Collective and Flush Gallery.
Looking ahead, he is currently developing a feature film in collaboration with Tiger Hornby, expanding the physical artworks for TSSP II, and continuing to build a life rooted in woodworking. His long-term vision includes establishing his own furniture design studio, and he will return to the CFC this summer to further his learning.
